One of the biggest threats to the security of your ForteMall account and your identity is fraudulent email and websites, called spoof email and phishing websites. Both are used to obtain personal and account information.
If you suspect that your ForteMall account may have been tampered with, follow the instructions on the Securing Your ForteMall Account and Protecting Your Identity pages.
If you receive email that includes links and requests sensitive information be cautious.
| • | A spoof email pretending to be from ForteMall typically contains a link that takes you to a fake web site that requests that you sign in and submit personal and account information. |
| • | ForteMall does not require you to enter information on a page that cannot be accessed from the ForteMall site. When possible, you should avoid clicking links. Instead of clicking the link, you should copy the address and paste it into the address bar area of your web browser. While ForteMall may send email that contains links, the links are provided for convenience only. You will not be required to submit sensitive information if a direct link is provided to an ForteMall page. |
| • | ForteMall does not send you email that includes attachments, or ask you for your password or other sensitive information through email. |
Beware of fake or phishing websites pretending to be ForteMall.
| • | If you clicked a link in an email, verify that the web address in your browser is the same as the address shown in the email. |
| • | Never enter your ForteMall username and password on a page that doesn't have "fortemall.com" immediately before the first forward slash (/). If the address includes additional characters prior to the forward slash such as "@," dashes, and so on, it is not an ForteMall page. Even if the web address contains the word "ForteMall," it may not be an ForteMall web site. |
| • | Before signing in, check the Web address in your browser. To be sure that you are signing into a genuine ForteMall web site, look at the address bar area of your browser. At an ForteMall sign-in page, the web address (URL) that appears in the Address/Location field of your browser should ends with fortemall.com. |
| • | Upgrade your internet browser or install advanced anti-virus (internet security) software on your local PC. The newer internet browsers (such as Internet Explorer 7.0) have include the fake or phishing web sites detects functions. They can detect if the web sites is fake (phishing) or not. It could be a great help to reduce the risk of you to visit the fake or phishing ForteMall web sites. You also can install some advanced anti-virus (or internet security) software packages, some of these software packages also have the fake or phishing web sites detects functions (for example, BitDefender), they also can help you to avoid the fake or phishing ForteMall web sites. |
